Hi! I'm Gary Brown aka GB. Several years ago I was inspired to go on a mission trip. This web site is the outcome of my mission trips to this very small part of the world. It was just a few short years ago that Tracy Houpt, President of MAMATARA Orphanage found this orphanage while on a different mission trip. This orphanage is supported by people just like you and me. Each child is sponsored. Other than that, we have to raise funds outside this small group of people to go on mission trips and finish building the orphanage. I am married and have been blessed raising 2 children. Please take the time to experience buildtheorphanage.com.
Have you ever wanted to help children but didn't know how to do it? Have you ever wanted to make a difference that you can actually see? Thought you didn't have anything to offer so you just never bothered? Thought you had to give a lot of money or time you don't have? Now you have the opportunity no matter what your financial position is. $5 will buy a child a outfit to wear and you can see what your money buys. Have a $100,000 to donate? That will take care of just about all the current financial needs for this cause. Want to become missionaries and move to a beautiful foreign country where it never gets cold? It's all possible. Please read on.
This web site is dedicated to helping the Moskito Indian children of MAMA TARA ORPHANAGE in Puerto Lempira, Honduras. This small out of the way orphanage is home to 23 Moskito Indian children. My first mission trip was July 2006. My daughter Jessica and I wanted to find a place and people where we could make a difference. After coming back from our first trip we knew it was a place that the things we do can make a real difference in these children's lives. We can see the fruits of our labor. You can visit http://www.mamatara.org and http://mamatara.hondurasmissiontrips.org for more information and pictures. This is a tax exempt organization. You can make donations directly to MamaTara Miskito Orphanage, Inc. a non-profit organization 5000 W. Esplanade Ave., Metairie, LA 70006. You can contact me at sendemailtogb@yahoo.com or 770-605-0592. You can see where Puerto Limpera is located at http://maps.google.com. Just search by Puerto Lempira Honduras. Use the satellite tab and you can drill down to Lempira Port, which is Puerto Lempira. You will be able to see the dirt landing field, the pier, and other buildings.
Please take the time to enjoy reading and looking at the pictures. I think your heart will be touched by these very special people.
