Tell a Friend

This web site is dedicated to Lance Sperring, a dear friend of mine who inspired me to go on my first mission trip to MT.   Lance went to be with the Lord Feb. 28, 2009.

Change a child's life today.

Change your life today.

I have left older photos in this web site so you can see the progress that has taken place so you will see pictures of a block shell with no roof all the way to the finished buildings.

MamaTara Orphanage is located 3000+ miles south just outside the small town of Puerto Lempira, Honduras, Central America.   You could drive there if you wanted to spend 52 hours behind the wheel.   You will need a 4X4 SUV.   Then there is no guarantee that you would be able to get through the roads once you get into Honduras.   The other factor would be your own safety.

Why MamaTara Orphanage?   The pilot put it into perspective the first time we landed there.   "Welcome to this God forsaken place" he said.   Tracy Houpt found this wonderful cause several years ago when he was on a mission trip in Nicarauga.   He took   on the cause.   This is a tiny orphanage located at what seems to be the end of nowhere.   No industry, dirt so poor they can't grow food, people rely on buying and selling goods to each other that are brought in on the supply boat.   They have a dirt air strip.

The people of Puerto Lempira are generally friendly.   I have no problem taking early morning walks through the town by myself.       There are small general stores with very limited selections.   You may do a lot of walking to get what you need, if you can find it.

There are a small number of us that support the basics of the orphanage through child sponsorship.   However there are a lot of projects to do to insure these children have the opportunity to live some aspects of a long term quality life.

Today you can change a child's life.

Today you can change your life.

Enjoy the experience!
